  • The Wild Winds Horse Rescue is
    a new addition to Boone County.
    The rescue was started as a
    refuge for 3 horses in December
    2005.  By a teenager named
    Michael Kirkman.  

  • Michael is a Junior at Western
    Boone High School.  He is
    involved in FFA and many other
    agriculture classes in school.
    Even when Michael was
    younger, he has always had a
    deep passion for saving
    animals.  No matter whether it
    was a lizard in Florida or a dog
    thrown off the interstate in
    Indianapolis, he always took the
    animals in.  This experience
    helped him make the decision to
    open his own rescue at his
    house.

  • A brick house on 10 acres of
    land was the perfect home for
    some horses.  These horses
    were given land to run on. In
    the winter, the horses feed on
    donations of hay and sweet
    feed. We are home to 8 horses
    right now. Two of which are
    permanent residents.

  • Donations are greatly accepted.
    We will pick up any donations.  
    We also offer adoption of horses
    to worthy homes. If you are
    interested, we encourage you to

  • We can also take in up to 8
    more horses at Wild Winds. This
    is subject to change depending
    on how many we adopt out at
    one time
Goals of Wild Winds:

  • Grow into a well-known
    rescue

    with love and care.
